Firstly, we hope that you are keeping safe and healthy. Please use this page as a resource for educational activities and resources that can be used at home. Activities to do at home (Junior and senior infants)
Read to your child and hear them read. Ask lots of questions about the story being read.
Helpful apps: Froggy Match it, Teach your Monster to Read, Splash Maths.

Twinkl are offering all parents a one month free membership to
Twinkl.ie. It allows unlimited access to resources for all curriculum areas from Junior Infants to Sixth Class.
Go over Tricky Words in their Tricky Word copies. Play games involving these tricky words e.g. Go Fish, Snap.
Go over Letter Sounds and Letter Names. Say them out loud, trace them with your finger, write them down.
Write out Silly Sentences. Use a capital letter, finger spaces between words and a full stop at the end of your sentence.
Count on a number line 0-20 and backwards. Find particular numbers e.g. find the number 9, what’s the number before 9? What’s the number after 9? Etc.
Write out numbers 0-8 and practice sums up the value of 8. E.g. 2+6=? Ask your child to write the “story of 8”.
Junk Art creations
Water Station- fill a sink with water and play with plastic containers to see if they float, sink, which holds more, which holds less etc.

Maths activities to do at home
We will be putting together a list of math's activities that can be done at home with your child with very little resources.
Parents should be aware that in the Curriculum:
Junior Infants learn number skills from 0-5.
Senior Infants analyse and compare numbers from 0-10 and learn to count to 20.
In first class children will read, write, order and compare place value of numbers to 0-99. Begin adding and subtracting and using symbols + and -. Solve one step problems in addition and subtraction.
in Second Class, place value is increased to 0-199. Renaming when subtracting is introduced.
